POSTBENCH
Allows an index APL does not provide to be tracked or to post daily returns for indices not available on a daily basis from APL.
- At the APL Menu, type POSTBENCH
The following screen will appear asking for a file name if you are uploading returns.
- If you are uploading a file, enter the file name and press
Enter ↵.
Note: The information should be entered as follows: /u/directory where the file is located/file name (i.e., /u/ibm02/bench.asc).
- If you are not uploading a file, press
Enter ↵
The input screen will appear:
- Using the TAB key, move to the columns and enter the requested data
- INDEX would be the SNAM for the index
- DATE would be the date for which you are entering the return
- RETURN would be the return
- TYPE OF RETURN would be Daily, Monthly, Pro-Rate Quarterly, Quarterly
To pro-rate a quarterly return, you need to select PRO-RATE QUARTERLY as the Type of Return. You also need to select PRO-RATE QUARTERLY RETURNS when you press F10 to save the data you have entered.
- DOM/INT would be domestic or international. If you are tracking indices, such as the Morgan Stanley EAFE, that have returns posted on days recognized as US holidays, you need to identify the index as an International index. Doing this will allow you to post the return without receiving the error you're trying to post a return on a non-business day
You can use the (F1) option key for the Type of Return and Dom/Int fields only.
If you are entering data for multiple indices, you can press the (F8) key to sort the data.
- To exit and save, hit F10. To exit with out saving, hit F3
If you select F10 an option box will appear:
- BACK TO PREVIOUS SCREEN which will take you back to the data input screen
- SAVE DATA TO FILE which allows you to create a download/data file of the information you have entered
- PRO-RATE QUARTERLY RETURNS which will pro-rate the quarterly returns you have tagged to be pro-rated across all of the months in the quarter
- POST DATA which allows you to post the data to the pm files of the indices you are updating
If you select F3 you will be asked if you are sure you want to exit without saving data. Answer Yes or No. YES will take you out of the function. NO will take you back to the data input screen.
Important: If you have entered incomplete or inconsistent data, a message will appear informing you of this and will not let you save the data.
If you entered a file to be uploaded, the screen will appear with the data already filled in.
Make any changes (in place) to the data and then go to Step 5 to exit and save the data.
